Ocean Power Technologies dodges disruptions with made-in-America strategy

Ocean Power Technologies (OPT), based in Monroe Township, says it remains fully operational and insulated from global supply chain issues, thanks to a primarily domestic supplier network and a workforce that includes more than 20% U.S. military veterans.

CEO Philipp Stratmann said the company’s U.S.-based operations and procurement strategy allow it to maintain consistent delivery schedules and stable inventory costs, even as international logistics challenges continue to impact many industries.

“We are proud to maintain a fully U.S.-based workforce while continuing to collaborate effectively with our international partners,” Stratmann said. “This structure enables us to remain agile, responsive and competitive across both the defense and commercial energy sectors.”

The company, which provides intelligent maritime solutions for defense, offshore energy and research markets, says demand for technologies that serve both defense and renewable energy needs is rising domestically and internationally.

OPT’s offerings include AI-integrated maritime awareness systems, ocean energy platforms and autonomous surface vessels. It has offices in New Jersey and California.
