WilkinGuttenplan is partnering with Rowan University of Glassboro to support the post-baccalaureate certificate of accounting CPA Apprenticeship Program. This collaboration is designed to provide aspiring accountants with a pathway to a CPA license through hands-on experience and academic excellence.
The CPA program at Rowan, through the school’s Rohrer College of Business, offers students a cost-effective route to complete the 150-credit requirement for CPA licensing process while gaining experience at East Brunswick-based WilkinGuttenplan. Apprentices will receive mentorship, financial support, and on-the-job training to prepare them for careers in accounting.
WilkinGuttenplan has similar partnerships with Fairleigh Dickinson University and Rider University. In regard to the Rowan collaboration, Managing Shareholder Emeritus Ed Guttenplan connected with accounting professor Amy Lysak of Rowan about the possible partnership.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Handbook, the outlook for accountants and auditors is hopeful. From 2023 to 2033, the bureau estimates job growth in the profession will be 6%. About 130,800 openings for accountants and auditors are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Median pay for 2023, the latest year available, was $79,880.
“Our partnership with Rowan University reflects our commitment to developing future accounting professionals,” said Dan Fiorentino, managing shareholder at WilkinGuttenplan. “By combining academic rigor with practical experience, we are equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the industry.”
Rohrer College of Business Dean Matthew Sarkees called the apprenticeship program “a unique opportunity to gain the practical experience they need to excel in the profession, while fulfilling the academic requirements for CPA licensure.”
