Jersey Mike’s Subs and customers in North America raised more than $30 million to help more than 200 local charities during the company’s 15th Annual Month of Giving in March. The total exceeds the $25 million raised during last year’s campaign.
Jersey Mike’s locations in the U.S. and Canada accepted donations throughout the month. Customers had the option to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or donate $1, $3, or $5 when placing their order. This preceded the company’s Day of Giving on March 26, when more than 3,000 restaurants donated 100% of sales to local charities such as hospitals, youth organizations, food banks, and others.
“Together, we’re making a difference in people’s lives thanks to all of you,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO, who this year is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his purchase of his first sub shop at age 17.
With this year’s donation, Jersey Mike’s has raised $143 million for local charities since Month of Giving began in 2011. At the first nationwide fundraiser, all of Jersey Mike’s 454 locations raised $600,000 for 66 charities.
Jersey Mike’s was founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant Beach and was purchased by Cancro in 1975 when he was 17. The submarine sandwich company has grown to more than 3,000 locations throughout the United States and Canada. Jersey Mike’s added 322 locations in 2024, its biggest expansion in a single year. Jersey Mike’s posted global sales of $3.3 billion in 2023.
The company was purchased by private equity firm Blackstone in November for a reported $8 billion. Blackstone plans an aggressive expansion strategy in international markets. The agreement allows Cancro to keep an equity stake in the company. The Jersey Mike’s founder is now worth an estimated $7.5 billion.
