Art Fair 14C celebrates 6 years of creative discovery in Jersey City

Art Fair 14C, New Jersey’s premier visual arts fair, is proud to announce its 6th edition, taking place May 8–11, in the Powerhouse Arts District of downtown Jersey City.

The fair will be held at Project 14C, 157B 1st Street, a 40,000-square-foot venue within the 125,000-square-foot headquarters of ARTS 14C—just two PATH train stops from Manhattan.

Art Fair 14C continues its mission to increase opportunities for artists, expand public access to the arts, and strengthen careers in the visual arts, presenting a dynamic mix of 44 exhibitors representing hundreds of contemporary artists from New Jersey and around the world. Visitors will discover emerging and mid-career talent working across all mediums, with a particularly strong showing of painting and sculpture.

This year’s fair offers a one-of-a-kind experience, featuring 23 expansive loft-style studios transformed into immersive exhibition spaces. Twelve studios will be occupied by solo exhibitors, creating salon-style or installation presentations that engage and inspire.

A fair that meets the moment

Responding to current challenges in the art market, Art Fair 14C has restructured its exhibitor model. In support of small and mid-sized galleries and artists, the fair offered flexible participation options including half price, or free exhibition space.

“We know that the art market is in a risky place and that galleries, art dealers and artists are nervous, even scared, right now,” said ARTS 14C CEO Robinson Holloway. “We decided that the fair could be a supportive partner and share in that risk.”

After launching in 2019 at the Hyatt Regency, Art Fair 14C has grown through several landmark Jersey City venues, including Mana Contemporary, the Jersey City Armory, and Liberty State Park’s CRRNJ Terminal. Today, it thrives in its custom-built space in a former warehouse for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company in the Powerhouse Arts District.

The name “14C” is a wink to the New Jersey “what exit?” joke, reflecting the fair’s Jersey roots while celebrating Jersey City’s history as a gateway to the world.
