Apple Bank opening Lakewood branch on April 28

Apple Bank

Apple Bank said on Tuesday that its new branch located at 140 East Kennedy Blvd. in Lakewood will open on April 28. While banks across the country are shuttering branches, Apple is looking to expand its footprint in New Jersey. Apple has other branches in Englewood and Iselin.

“The Lakewood branch reflects the bank’s continuing commitment to serving the Jewish community in New Jersey, one in which the bank is already deeply embedded and knows well through its many locations in Brooklyn and the greater New York area,” stated Jim Matera, senior executive vice president and chief retail banking officer at Apple Bank.

As of December 2022, Lakewood had the third-largest Jewish population among New Jersey cities with 11,362 people. The Ocean County city has become a destination for Orthodox Jewish families.

The bank’s expansion into Lakewood is supported by three veteran bankers from the area. Business Relationship Manager John Crisafulli is a 25-year banking veteran who’s worked in community banking in the Ocean County area. Allan Wagner, previously with M&T Bank, is the Apple Bank’s branch manager. Lowell Edwards, formerly at Fulton Bank, is assistant branch manager.

Apple Bank, established in 1863, is the largest state-chartered savings bank in New York State, with over 75 branches in the greater New York area, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, and New Jersey.
