During the dinner reception held on April 28 in Atlantic City, as part of the Chemistry Council of New Jersey’s (CCNJ) 40th Annual Conference, the Council proudly presented its highest honor, the Chairperson’s Award, to two distinguished companies: Johnson Matthey, recognized as the Regular Member Company recipient, and Roux, honored as the Associate Member Company recipient.

The Chairperson’s Award recognizes member companies that demonstrate excellence and commitment to community, customer, shareholder and employee expectations in the areas of safety, health, environmental performance and industry leadership.

“This award reflects the values at the core of our industry,” said Grant Hutchings, chair of the CCNJ Board of Trustees. “Our member companies are vital to New Jersey’s economy, and their commitment to safe operations, environmental responsibility and advocacy helps ensure that our industry continues to innovate and thrive. Johnson Matthey and Roux exemplify the best of what our membership stands for.”

Now in its 29th year, the Chairperson’s Award has previously honored industry leaders such as BASF, Solvay, Chemours and Church & Dwight. This year’s recipient, Johnson Matthey, a CCNJ member for more than 27 years, was recognized for its leadership in sustainability and innovation.

With a strong presence in West Deptford, Johnson Matthey is committed to protecting the environment, reducing industrial emissions through catalyst technology and investing in clean energy solutions. Their strong safety culture has led to a continued decline in incident rates, and their STEM education initiatives are helping prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The Associate Member Chairperson’s Award honors companies that support the Council’s advocacy and membership efforts through active engagement and leadership. Roux, a CCNJ member since 2003, has played a critical role in supporting Council initiatives, participating in meetings and providing expert input on regulatory matters.

With over 40 years of experience, Roux specializes in environmental remediation, regulatory compliance and consulting. As an employee-owned firm with over 450 professionals, Roux has been a reliable partner in helping the Council and its members navigate complex environmental challenges.

“Our member companies are the heart of our organization,” said Dennis Hart, executive director of CCNJ. “They not only drive innovation and economic growth in New Jersey but also support our advocacy work and help shape responsible policy. Johnson Matthey and Roux have shown remarkable dedication, and we are proud to recognize their contributions to our industry.”
