Pediatric development center opens in Flemington

The COR Behavioral Group, a provider of applied behavior analysis and autism therapy, and Baker Street Behavioral Health, a behavioral health provider, announced the opening of their pediatric development center in Flemington.

The new center at 466 NJ-12 in Flemington triples the office square footage to 4,500 square feet from their previous location in Lebanon of 1,200 square feet.

“Our new center reflects our commitment to growth and excellence,” said Dr. Joseph Galasso, psychologist and CEO. “It’s not just an upgrade; it’s a promise to our clients that we are here to serve them better, and that together we are building a community where individuals with autism, IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), and behavioral challenges can thrive and lead fulfilling lives.”

Demand for pediatric development centers is increasing as New Jersey’s population, now at 9.5 million, is rising at the fastest pace in the Northeast. Hunterdon County’s estimated 2025 population is 130,939 with a growth rate of 0.29% in the past year according to the most recent United States Census data. Hunterdon County is the 18th largest county in New Jersey.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s ADDM Network, about 1 in 31 (3.2%) children aged 8 years were identified with autism spectrum disorder. About 1 in 6 (17%) children aged 3 to 17 years old were diagnosed with a developmental disability, as reported by parents, during a study period of 2009 to 2017. These disabilities included autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, blindness, and cerebral palsy, among others.

The Flemington center provides applied behavior analysis therapy clients with a treatment program designed to promote skill development and symptom reduction. Clients can make use of a sensory room, gym area, and a full kitchen and daily living skills area to promote learning and enhance success in activities of daily living.

Individuals can also receive behavioral health services (in person or via telehealth), occupational therapy, and/or neuropsychological evaluation at the new center.

COR Behavioral Group also has a developmental center in Fair Lawn. Baker Street Behavioral Health has offices in Cedar Grove, Fair Lawn, Red Bank, Paramus, and Franklin Lakes.
