Braven Health to host series of health fairs and luncheons for veterans

Braven Health, a subsidiary of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield New Jersey, will team with the Veterans Foundation of America and Feeding Our Heroes to host a series of health fairs and luncheons for veterans during 2025.

The next one will take place at the Cherry Blossom Welcome Center on Branch Brook Park Drive in Newark on May 30 from 10 am to 3 pm.

Braven Health’s sponsorship allows the health services offered at the fair to be free of charge to veterans.

One of the health services being offered is a free screening for breast cancer, courtesy of University Hospital.

To be eligible for this free mammogram, you must be a veteran, 40 years of age or older, or you must have been exposed to burn pits or other cancer-causing agents and have not had a mammogram in the past year.

Those interested in the free breast cancer screening must register in advance. More information on registering is available here: https://thevfa.org/veterans-health-fairs.

For the other services being provided at the health fair (see accompanying box) no registration is required, but veterans will need to bring an ID or proof of military service.

“At Braven Health and the Veterans Foundation of America, we believe that honoring veterans starts with action” said Colonel (Ret) Jeff Cantor, director, product development and partnerships at Braven Health. ”This event is not only about healthcare access, but about community, gratitude, and proactive wellness.

“This special community event is dedicated to honoring those who have served by providing veterans and their families with access to essential health services and wellness resources.”

The event will also include a free luncheon courtesy of Feeding Our Heroes.
