Joint Base MDL seniors celebrate graduation at Adventure Crossing

The second annual graduation celebration for senior high school students of military families took place on May 2 at Adventure Crossing.

Family members and friends attended this unique celebration created so the seniors have a chance to be recognized for their academic achievements  – something many of them never have the opportunity to enjoy because the transient nature of military life has them moving from school to school.

Colonel Anthony Smith, commander of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, joins some of the graduating seniors at the celebration which was sponsored by the Military Support Alliance of New Jersey, Valley Bank, and the Spouses of Joint Base MDL. The event was hosted at Adventure Crossing in Jackson.

Sonae Sims (center) from Burlington High School was awarded a $5,000 sponsorship by the Military Support Alliance of New Jersey (MSA) and Valley Bank. The scholarship presentation was made by Gino Sciorilli, (left), President of Ocean Salon Systems and president of the MSA and Joe Colleran (right), President of Valley Financial Management and an MSA Board Member.
