NY Waterway, NJ Transit honor military personnel, veterans for Fleet Week

NY Waterway and NJ Transit are saluting our nation’s military this Memorial Day weekend by giving members of the armed services complimentary rides for NYC Fleet Week.

Starting today, NY Waterway, which operates the largest ferry fleet between New Jersey and New York, announced that, in honor of Fleet Week 2025, all military personnel and veterans can take free ferry service through Tuesday, May 27. Veterans and service members need to show a valid Veteran or Military ID to NY Waterway crew members.

NY Waterway has nine New Jersey terminals with service to Midtown W39th St, Pier 11/Wall St., and to Brookfield Place/Battery Park City. Several New Jersey ferry terminals offer low-cost parking (free in South Amboy). Riders can also reach many NY Waterway terminals by the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Line, NJ Transit (rail and bus), and free NY Waterway buses.

NJ Transit, the nation’s third-largest provider of bus, rail, and light rail transit, is giving members of the armed forces complimentary rides for NYC Fleet Week. Active-duty and reserve members of the military and National Guard ride for free while in uniform or by displaying a military ID to the operator or conductor. No ticket or fare is required. NJ Transit will also provide “early getaway” rail and bus service on Friday to accommodate customers heading out early for the holiday weekend.
