The JB MDL Open House and Air Show “gives our neighbors the chance to meet the sons and daughters who wear the uniform and to see the people behind the mission,” said JB MDL commander Colonel Anthony Smith.

Units from across the military services demonstrated their capabilities during the air show. In a spectacular aerial ballet, the Air Force’s mammoth KC-46 tanker refuels the stalwart C17 Globemaster in mid-air.

The Air Force’s robotic dog “Spark Plug” appeared at the air show. Formally considered an “unmanned four–legged vehicle,” Spark Plug can minimize human exposure in dangerous areas and provide full security surveillance of a defined geographic area (e.g. a military base) with its multi-camera “eyes.”

Marine Air Group 49 (MAG 49) showcased the ability of its powerful CH-53 Super Stallion to delivery military assets – regardless of size and weight – to target areas. At the air show, the CH-53 delivered a Humvee across the airfield.

The U.S. Coast Guard team from Atlantic City demonstrated a simulated search and rescue mission with the MH-65E Dolphin helicopter.
