The JB MDL Open House and Air Show honored the legacy of aircraft and crews that helped write the military’s honored history. The B-25J Mitchell “Panchito” was used in the historic 1942 Doolittle Raid over Tokyo and in many engagements in both the Pacific and European Theaters of WWII.

This C47 Skytrain – nicknamed “Gooney Bird” – is famous for delivering paratroopers to the coast of France ahead of the D-Day invasion forces. The aircraft was also a workhorse during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and was one of the most widely used aircraft of its time.

Special guests at the air show included these crew members who flew the Berlin Airlift’s Douglas C-54 Skymaster “Spirit of Freedom” aircraft in the days following the end of WWII.

The Jersey Jerks, a team of highly trained formation flyers, use the Texan/SNJ World War II era aircraft to wow the crowd on both days of the airshow.

“Doc” – a restored B29 Superfortress – was a special guest at the air show. “Doc” is one of only two remaining such aircraft that still fly. The B29 aircraft dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
