David’s Cookies opening food-manufacturing facility in Cedar Grove

David’s Cookies will hold an event marking the opening of a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 11 Cliffside Drive in Cedar Grove on June 9, from 9 to 11 a.m.

The event represents a $25 million capital investment and the creation of more than 1,000 jobs at three locations in New Jersey. The company planted its flag in New Jersey in 1989 with an 8,000-square-foot facility in Fairfield. It now has three manufacturing sites totaling 360,000 square feet in the Garden State. The company consolidated its Florida operations into three New Jersey locations.

The food industry is thriving in New Jersey. It accounts for one in five private-sector jobs in the state and brings in nearly $57 billion annually, according to private non-profit economic development agency Choose New Jersey.

The David’s Cookies ceremony will include remarks from Lt. Governor Tahesha Way, David’s Cookies CEO Ari Margulies, and local officials, including Melissa Skabich, mayor of Cedar Grove.

Founder David Liederman opened the first David’s Cookies shop in Manhattan in 1979. There are more than 200 stores worldwide.
