Community bank Spencer Savings Bank president and chief operating officer Jane Allerman-Rey has received the Woman of Impact Award from the New Jersey Bankers Association.
The honor was presented during the NJBankers Banking On Women conference on June 4 held at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset. It recognizes a NJBankers member for their commitment to the advancement of women in the banking industry, and whose leadership has created positive change.
Allerman-Rey has been at Spencer Savings since 1993. She is responsible for all areas of retail banking, lending, and support divisions. She is tasked with ensuring that the bank’s business processes keep up with its growth strategy.
“Jane Allerman-Rey is an exceptional leader, and we are grateful for her service to the banking industry and to our Association,” said Michael Affuso, president and CEO of NJBankers. “Because of leaders such as herself, our industry is strong and will continue to thrive and innovate.”
In her nomination for the award, Allerman-Rey was described as a strong role model who inspires future generations of female leaders. She is described as a strong supporter of community banks and a leader in corporate philanthropy – integrating philanthropic partnerships into the bank’s core strategy and culture and empowering Spencer Savings’ employees to drive meaningful impact in the communities that the bank serves.
“I, alongside a strong team at Spencer, have made a great impact in the communities we serve,” said Allerman-Rey. “I am especially proud to have helped build a team at the bank composed of over 60% women leaders and professionals. Together we have done wonderful work that continues to make an impact. Our diverse perspectives have only strengthened the strong support we provide our businesses, individuals/families and community.”
Prior to joining Spencer Savings Bank, Allerman-Rey was a field manager with the Northeast Region of the Office of Thrift Supervision, a division of the U.S. Treasury that regulated thrift institutions. She is also a member of the Financial Managers Society, member of UCEDC (Union County Economic Development) Board of Trustees, and serves on the Westfield Area YMCA Board of Directors.
