Goya initiative to distribute food attracting volunteers from 20 organizations

More than 200 volunteers from 20 organizations in New Jersey and New York are scheduled to participate in Goya Foods annual event to distribute 100,000 pounds of food to feed 16,000 families on the company’s annual “Goya Gives Day.” The event will be held at Goya’s headquarters on County Road in Jersey City on July 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Among the participants are: Jersey City Puerto Rican Heritage and Culture (Parade); WONDER GIRLS USA; Jersey City Police Department; Blacks in Law Enforcement Servicing the Community; Sneaker Room Foundation; Muslim American Law Enforcement Association; Colombian Independence Day Festival; County Sheriff’s Office; Hispanic American Law Enforcement Association; Boy Scouts of America – Northern New Jersey Council; Explorer Scouts – Boy Scouts; Newark Puerto Rican Day Parade; Temple Rock Church  – Newark; Anibal Ramos Civic Association; Three Kings Foundation; Council member Luis Gonzalez; NYPD Hispanic Society; Goya Family members for Sisters of Life; and Goya Employees for Oasis.

Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States, said its mission is to bring people together and support communities in need through its annual day of giving. Goya said it’s been giving food to the needy since its inception in 1936. The company moved its headquarters to Jersey City from Secaucus in 2015.
