Valley Hospital’s D’Ercole receives emerging leader award from New Jersey Hospital Association

The Valley Hospital said Drew D’Ercole, director of care coordination at The Valley Hospital, has received the emerging leader award – acute care – from the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA).

D’Ercole was recognized at NJHA’s annual “Best at the Beach” celebration, which honors individuals and organizations in New Jersey that build health care in the state. This year’s event took place on June 26 at Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch.

The emerging leader award recognizes newer health-care professionals – those with fewer than five years of management experience – who exhibit outstanding knowledge and commitment. D’Ercole was recognized for her pivotal role in the hospital’s move to Paramus last year; establishing the hospital’s admission unit, which helps staff efficiently move patients from the emergency department to the appropriate inpatient unit; and for her efforts to reduce the patient’s length of stay and maximize care.

“I am honored to be recognized as an emerging leader by NJHA,” said D’Ercole. “This recognition is a reflection of The Valley Hospital’s commitment to professional development and its culture of innovation. I am deeply grateful for the support, guidance, and mentorship I’ve received from my leadership team throughout my career at Valley.”

Margaret Pogorelec, assistant vice president of women’s, children’s, and emergency services for The Valley Hospital, said, “Drew’s vision and leadership has been transformative at Valley. Her experience as a clinician uniquely positions her to collaborate and brainstorm workflows that work across the care continuum. Her dedication to patient care is unmatched.”

NJHA is a not-for-profit organization committed to delivering support to New Jersey hospitals, health systems, and health-care clinicians.
