On July 19, in the middle of Disability Pride Month, Big & Tall Recording held its first annual Big & Tall Fest in Rutherford. The 10-hour-long music festival was held at the Williams Center, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to New Concepts for Living (NCFL), New Jersey’s premier provider of services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), located in Paramus. The event raised thousands of dollars for NCFL.
The festival brought together over 600 attendees, 140-plus volunteers and 28 bands, including a special needs choir that kicked off and set the tone for the event. Performers included up-and-coming artists and musicians, some of whom had personal ties to the cause.
“This festival serves as a platform to showcase the exceptional local talent we have the privilege of working with regularly, united in creating an event that is uplifting, joyful and inclusive — all in support of a cause that holds great significance to us,” said Gabe Valle, co-founder of Big & Tall Recording.
“NCFL is so appreciative of our partnership with Big & Tall Recording,” said Sharon Scimeca, director of development at NCFL. “This music fest not only raised funds for the life-changing support services we offer the I/DD population but also highlights the dire need for these programs and how NCFL is leading the way in providing the best care possible for this underserved population.”
