The Inserra family will host a check presentation at the ShopRite of Metro Plaza in Jersey City on Aug. 7 at 12:30 p.m., to celebrate their company’s donation of $100,000 to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, extending a long-standing annual tradition.
Inserra Supermarkets’ 23 ShopRite stores across New Jersey and New York raised nearly $59,000 during the annual five-week “Dollars Against Diabetes” campaign in June, and the Inserra Family Foundation is contributing more than $41,000 in support of the effort. The ShopRite of Metro Plaza at 400 Marin Blvd. in Jersey City was this year’s top fundraising store, raising more than $10,000.
The annual “Dollars Against Diabetes” campaign empowers customers and associates to make a tangible impact in the fight against diabetes. This year’s campaign is a testament to the power of community-driven philanthropy and the Inserra family’s legacy of giving back.
According to data from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 38.4 million people of all ages, 11.6% of the population, had diabetes in 2021, and 38.1 million were adults ages 18 years or older.
