Becker’s Hospital Review cites Adamson, RWJBarnabas Health chief information officer

Dr. Robert T. Adamson, executive vice president and chief information officer of RWJBarnabas Health, was honored as one of 148 hospital and health system CIOs to know nationwide by Becker’s Hospital Review. 

As executive vice president and chief information officer for RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest academic health care system, Adamson is responsible for all information technology initiatives and imperatives, including strategic planning, technology leadership, and vision. He also maintains the role of operational leader for the system’s Epic Electronic Health Record implementation.

RWJBarnabas Health said Adamson has transformed the system’s IT and electronic health record capabilities. He led the $855 million “Epic Together” implementation across the system’s hospitals. Under his leadership, the system earned 15 of 19 Epic operational excellence trophies and College of Healthcare Information Management Executives “Level 10 Most Wired” recognitions at 11 facilities. 

A pharmacist by training, Adamson was the chief pharmacy officer of the health system, and as such communicated IT rollouts throughout his healthcare system. He is currently an adjunct instructor at Rutgers University College of Pharmacy.
