Dove, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Walmart bringing Back-to-School Tour to Ledgewood

Dove, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Walmart are bringing their national Back-to-School Tour to Ledgewood, with a free event at the Ledgewood Walmart on Aug. 16. The Ledgewood Walmart is located at 461 Route 10 in Ledgewood and the event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is part of Dove’s Self-Esteem Project — an effort by the division of Hoboken-based Unilever to help young people develop confidence and self-worth. The experience includes free school supplies, Dove product samples, and self-esteem-building activities for local youth and families.

The event runs from July 1 through Aug. 31, and Dove will donate 5 cents to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for every Dove and Dove Men + Care item purchased at Walmart, to support youth mentorship across the U.S., with a minimum donation of $200,000 and maximum of $250,000.

The initiative is one of five being held in the United States and includes community events designed to support youth mentorship and confidence as students head into the new school year.

Each event will feature interactive activities to show how mentorship builds confidence, self-worth, and a strong sense of belonging. Attendees can meet local Bigs (mentors) and Littles (mentees), hear from on-site influencers serving as “Confidence Coaches,” participate in the “Picture Your Potential” photo experience, add their goals to the Vision Wall, and receive Dove and Dove Men + Care product samples, along with confidence boosting resources.

“The start of a new school year brings excitement and new beginnings for young people everywhere. When we combine that energy with mentorship, incredible things happen,” said Artis Stevens, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. “Through this partnership with Dove and Walmart, we’re recognizing what happens when young people have champions in their corner–they feel seen, build confidence, and are empowered to reach their full potential.”
