Sussex County Community College (SCCC) announced that it has received a $10,000 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation to support its Electrical Lineworker Program.
The funding will provide climbing gear for students in the hands-on training course, which prepares graduates for utility industry careers. College officials said the equipment will enhance safety and allow students to train in conditions that mirror industry standards.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the FirstEnergy Foundation,” said Stan Kula, SCCC’s executive director. “Their investment in our students not only helps build a strong, skilled workforce but also shows a true dedication to safety and economic development in our community.”
The Electrical Lineworker Program trains students for high-demand jobs essential to maintaining utility services.
The FirstEnergy Foundation said that the grant reflects its commitment to workforce development, safety and education across the region.
