New Jersey Ad Club sees A.I. as the future

The New Jersey Ad Club hosted its 57th Jersey Awards on Sept. 17 in Cedar Grove, celebrating creative excellence across the communications industry.

ROI-NJ spoke with current Ad Club President Christian Estrellado and incoming president Clayton Pollard about the growing role of artificial intelligence in New Jersey business, marketing, and within the Ad Club itself.

“It’s going to go everywhere,” said Estrellado, who is also the co-founder and managing partner of Estro Communications, a digital A.I. studio. “We know that creative, copy, video production, music production, that’s where we see A.I. going towards.”

He emphasized, however, that A.I. tools still require human expertise.

“But whatever you do in marketing, you’re still going to need an agent working on it. Not just on prompts, but on creative. You can’t just make things. You’re going to need a lot of Adobe experience to make sure that you could actually get what you want with the prompt.”

Pollard added that the Ad Club is exploring how A.I. might fit into its own operations.

“So right now we don’t really use A.I. much in the Ad Club, but we’re working toward kind of seeing what makes sense for the club to build forward, and, again, use it as a tool in our toolbox for reaching new audiences or becoming that authority leader in spaces where people are searching for information about the Ad Club.”

According to the organization’s website, the Ad Club’s mission is “to shine a light on all the great work being done across the communications spectrum throughout New Jersey.”
