Berlin Rehab & Healthcare marks grand reopening in Camden County

Berlin Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center marked the completion of a multi-million-dollar renovation and modernization with a September Grand Reopening Open House. The skilled nursing facility is located at 100 Long-A-Coming Lane in Berlin and provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.

Nearly 100 guests joined the leadership of Berlin Rehab & Healthcare and Marquis Health Consulting Services at the event, including care team members, local dignitaries, health-care colleagues and leadership of Virtua Health and Jefferson Health.

Berlin Mayor Rick Miller, Berlin Rehab & Healthcare Medical Director Dr. Salah Mohageb and Marquis Division President Michael Smith led the ribbon cutting. The open house event featured tours of the renovated campus, as well as refreshments.

“Berlin’s modernization – involving updates to 17,000 square feet at the center – aligns with its goal to provide transformative skilled nursing care to the Camden County community, which it has served for over 25 years,” said Kate Bauer, regional director of market development at Marquis, which supports Berlin.

A highlight of the full-center renovation is its expanded rehab therapy gym, featuring up-to-date equipment and other technology to support rehab services. An activities-of-daily-living suite mimics a home environment with a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom – enabling patients the opportunity to regain skills before returning home.

Renovation work included updates to the lobby and subacute wing, including patient rooms. Berlin’s new design boasts a modern feel that is both warm and energizing, with its white and navy color palette along with teal accents. “The new design pairs a high level of functionality with an uplifting aesthetic,” added Bauer.

During the modernization, Berlin has continued to enhance its programming, including the recent introduction of OrthoWIN, a highly specialized subacute care program for orthopedic recovery. Berlin’s Dr. Tracey Harris, a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, directs the new initiative.
