New Jersey American Water will replace more than three miles of aging cast iron water main in Neptune starting in September as part of its $4 million investment to continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection.
The company will upgrade water lines, which were installed in the 1950s, with new 8-inch ductile iron main along the following streets:
- Arnold Place the entire length
- Cedar Place from Prospect Ave to Woodmere Avenue
- Clinton Place from Tremont to Vernon Avenue
- Cottage Place the entire length
- Couse Road the entire length
- Elizabeth Terrace the entire length
- Fairfield Way the entire length
- Fairview Place the entire length
- Highland Avenue the entire length
- Hobart Place the entire length
- Milford Road from Cliffwood Ave to Tremont Drive
- North Benton Place the entire length
- Oakdale Drive the entire length
- Pinewood Drive from S. Riverside Drive to Hampton Court
- Pittenger Place the entire length
- The Plaza the entire length
- Tremont Drive the entire length
- Valley Road the entire length

The project also includes replacing fire hydrants and utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route. Additionally, New Jersey American Water will replace any customer-owned service line that has been identified as lead or galvanized as part of a statewide initiative to remove all lead and galvanized service lines by 2031.
This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.
