Saint Peter’s Breast Center, a service of Saint Peter’s University Hospital, announced that it has earned accreditation again under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
Having been the first breast center in Central New Jersey to have earned a full three-year accreditation from the NAPBC, this is the sixth consecutive time Saint Peter’s has earned NAPBC accreditation.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States. Programs accredited by the NAPBC require a breast center to facilitate multidisciplinary, integrated and comprehensive breast cancer services.
The NAPBC focuses on the spectrum of a patient’s journey with breast cancer or breast disease, including prevention, screening, treatment and survivorship. By setting high standards, NAPBC accreditation guides breast centers in providing comprehensive breast care based on scientific evidence and subsequently guides patients on where to seek the best care.
“NAPBC accreditation reassures patients and their loved ones that Saint Peter’s Breast Center provides comprehensive and advanced care,” said Lisa Hopkins, M.D., breast surgeon with Astera Cancer Care, who sees patients at Saint Peter’s Breast Center. “Receiving care close to home is not only convenient but alleviates additional stress and anxiety during treatment while allowing friends and family to provide support.”
Using the most advanced oncology treatment options available today, Saint Peter’s Breast Center offers access to a full range of state-of-the-art services, including women’s imaging, screening and diagnostic mammography services, bone density testing, breast surgery, radiation oncology, genetic counseling, survivorship services, physical rehabilitation services, nutrition and social services and lymphedema prevention and rehabilitation.
As an NAPBC-accredited institution, Saint Peter’s also becomes an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. It signifies a hospital’s dedication to consistently improving procedures and protocols, minimizing complications and achieving better patient outcomes. The Surgical Quality Partner designation lets patients know Saint Peter’s is committed to quality and relentless self-improvement.
