“Far too many of us don’t pay enough close attention to our own physical and emotional needs, often ignoring critical warning signs,” said Lisa Dressner when discussing the way women respond to the topic of self-care.
Lisa, who serves as both the vice president of Behavioral Health at Trinitas Regional Medical Center and the vice president of Psychiatric Emergency Services for RWJBH Behavioral Health Service Line, has years of experience in this field.
“As women, we tend to react only when we are faced with a significant event – perhaps a health issue affecting someone we love or ourselves. Until that moment occurs, though, we frequently put our own concerns at the bottom of the list of priorities. We are just too busy and preoccupied to pay attention to ourselves.”      Â
On Nov. 3, 2025, at the upcoming ROI-NJ program entitled “The Capacity to Care: Putting Yourself First Without Guilt,” Lisa will discuss these and other relevant observations, sharing insights and suggestions for a more effective approach to self-care.  Â
“We need to make time on a daily basis to pause and consider our own behavior,” she cautions. “It is important to reflect regularly on our purpose, on the quality of our lives, and on the challenges we face. This cannot be abdicated to a once-in-a-while consideration; the need to engage in self-care is constant.” Â
As Lisa joins fellow panelists in this critical conversation, she will remind us all that self-care is a behavior that takes place constantly, integrated into all of our activities, and not just a quick fix when an emergency arises. Lisa will reinforce the message that self-care is a way of life. Over the years in her career, Lisa has learned that putting ourselves first without guilt is the consistent approach we must take to re-energizing ourselves. Â
Register today to meet Lisa Dressner and be a part of this important event.
Only when we are at our best can we help, support and nurture those around us! Self-care means creating space to consider obstacles and identify solutions to life’s challenges.Â
