McWha joins Stevens & Lee in Elmwood Park office

Stevens & Lee announced that IP, security and privacy lawyer Keith McWha has joined the firm’s Elmwood Park office as a shareholder.

This follows closely on the heels of the firm’s third office opening in New Jersey, with the merger with Chatham-based Brown Moskowitz & Kallen in August, and the addition of three lawyers from the Satz Law Group in Bergen County in July.

“We’ve had a strong year of growth in New Jersey, and Keith’s addition expands the capabilities we offer to clients to help them thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” said Stevens & Lee President and CEO William P. Thornton Jr. “Whether safeguarding assets from cyberattack, addressing key privacy issues or protecting clients’ intellectual property, Keith has the skillset to meet the opportunities and challenges of our times.”

With nearly three decades of experience, McWha is a registered patent attorney, inventor and litigator who provides clients with a 360-degree view on protecting and maximizing the value of intellectual property portfolios, developing robust data privacy and security policies and navigating compliance challenges.

As a named inventor on several U.S. and international medical device patents, McWha applies his experience as a client to his practice. He has licensed, defended and enforced patents globally, has prepared trademark and copyright applications and provided guidance on M&A transactions, crisis data management and regulatory issues, including FDA compliance.

Additionally, McWha is a member of the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association, the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Before his legal career, he served for six years as a non-commissioned officer with the U.S. Army. McWha earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. He holds an M.S. in plastics engineering and a B.S., summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts.
