Eleven New Jersey hospitals were chosen as one of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals in New Jersey for 2026. This ranking is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc.
The America’s Best-In-State Hospitals list recognizes hospitals for demonstrating excellence across specialties, and in safety and patient satisfaction, according to Newsweek.
American Hospital Association data reports that there are more than 6,000 hospitals across the United States. To generate the America’s Best-In-State Hospitals list, 800 of the nation’s top hospitals across 50 states and the District of Columbia were ranked on four criteria:
- Quality metrics – quality data is provided by hospital accreditation bodies, such as The Joint Commission;
- Reputation – feedback gathered from a nationwide survey of medical professionals;
- Patient experience – data gathered from the results of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, which evaluates patient perceptions of their hospital care; and
- Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) questionnaires that ask patients about their experience and perceptions to assess patients’ health outcomes.
The result is a state-by-state guide of hospitals that stand out for clinical excellence, patient experience, and innovation in outcomes reporting, according to Newsweek’s website.
The 11 hospitals in New Jersey that made the list are: Morristown Medical Center (Morristown), Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (Englewood), RWJBarnabas Health – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (New Brunswick), Hackensack University Medical Center (Hackensack), Overlook Medical Center (Summit), Saint Peter’s University Hospital (New Brunswick), Cooper University Hospital (Camden), Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center (Plainsboro), Monmouth Medical Center (Long Branch), The Valley Hospital (Paramus) and Holy Name Medical Center (Teaneck).
