Valley Bank names Lang as chief banking officer for New Jersey

Valley National Bancorp said Nov. 17 it appointed Curt Lang as the chief banking officer for New Jersey.

In this role, Lang will lead the strategic direction and drive the growth of Valley’s commercial banking portfolio across the state.

Lang joins Valley from M&T Bank, where he served as senior vice president and regional head of commercial banking for New Jersey. His career also includes leadership and relationship management roles with Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania, Provident Bank in Baltimore and SouthTrust Bank in Huntsville, Ala.

“Curt comes to Valley with a proven track record achieving commercial growth in New Jersey,” said Gino Martocci, senior executive vice president and president of commercial banking for Valley Bank. “His deep market expertise and commitment to helping businesses succeed align perfectly with Valley’s relationship banking philosophy.”

Lang’s appointment is part of Valley’s ongoing commercial banking growth and expansion strategy, which has included several key leadership hires in recent weeks. These include: Matthew Verney, chief banking officer for the Philadelphia and South Jersey markets; Mark Glasky, California market president; and Terry M. Keating, head of asset-based lending.

“New Jersey has an incredibly dynamic business community, and I look forward to leveraging my local relationships and leadership experience to help our clients and teams thrive,” said Lang.
