Middlesex County is launching its new History Guide, a free, interactive initiative designed to encourage residents and visitors to step into the county’s revolutionary story.
The program encourages participants to explore historic landmarks, learn engaging stories from the Revolutionary period, and complete self-guided activities tied to real locations across the County.
The History Guide offers concise, engaging stories spanning from 1762 to 1783, accompanied by hands-on activities such as writing, drawing, and reflection, all designed to bring history to life. Participants who complete the activities and submit photos of their work may be eligible to receive a special prize. Physical copies of the guide are available to Middlesex County residents, while a downloadable PDF version is accessible to all.

Rios. “The History Guide provides a fun and educational way for people of all ages to explore our County’s historic landmarks and learn more about the Revolutionary era.”
How to Participate in the Middlesex County History Guide:
- Request the guide: Middlesex County residents can request a physical guide to be mailed to them at DiscoverMiddlesex.com/HistoryGuide, or download the PDF version.
- Explore historic sites: Visit landmarks such as Rutgers University, the Proprietary House, East Jersey Old Town Village, and Perth Amboy City Hall.
- Complete activities: Engage with self-guided prompts through writing, drawing, and reflection.
- Submit your work: Submit photos of completed activities online to be eligible for a special prize (residents only).
- Share your experience: Celebrate your discoveries and see others’ submissions online.
