ALO, trendy athleisure chain, opens store at American Dream in East Rutherford

American Dream, the massive shopping center in East Rutherford, is expanding its retail lineup with the addition of ALO Yoga, a Beverly Hills-based luxury lifestyle brand whose stated mission is to “raise the vibration of the world through movement, mindfulness and intention.”

ALO stands for “air, land and ocean” and is a major player in the athleisure wear segment, a fashion trend characterized by the blending of athletic and leisure wear. It has New Jersey stores at the Mall in Short Hills and the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne.

ALO is known for studio-to-street wear designs that combine the functionality of performance apparel with the sophistication of high fashion. Its apparel has been worn by celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid in photo spreads.

According to the website fortunebusinessinsights.com, the global athleisure market size is projected to grow from $368.61 billion in 2025 to $716.05 billion by 2032, posting a compound annual growth rate of 9.82% over the forecast period.

A story on TheStreet.com said ALO “built its brand on clean aesthetics, Instagram buzz, and high-end activewear that blended studio performance with street style. It became a go-to for influencers and everyday fitness lovers alike, especially for those who wanted leggings that looked as good as they felt.”

The privately held brand was founded in 2007 in California by childhood friends Danny Harris and Marco DeGeorge set out to design apparel that promotes the healing and transformative powers of yoga. It competes directly with athleisure company Lululemon.

The brand’s ecosystem includes community fitness classes, run clubs, wellness walks, breathwork, meditation, and beauty and self-care practices, and a digital fitness studio that makes VIP training accessible to all.

“ALO is a natural and exciting addition to American Dream’s portfolio of premium brands,” said Adam Petrick, chief marketing officer of American Dream. “Their commitment to mindfulness, wellness, and building meaningful real-life community aligns perfectly with our vision for creating spaces where people can connect, recharge, and experience culture together. We’re proud to welcome a brand that shares our belief in elevating both personal well-being and the health of our broader community.”

ALO joins a burgeoning roster of boldfaced brand names at American Dream such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferrari, Hermes, Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co.
