Navigating New Beginnings: The Fifty Factor Journey

Kim Keating has always lived in accordance with the simple adage, “If you see something, say something.” In fact, it was that brief statement that served as the catalyst behind her venture, “The Fifty Factor.”

After seeing the need in the business community to guide, support and encourage middle age women as they progress through their life’s journey, she decided to say something and, more importantly, to take action and do something.

When she recently went through her own soul-searching process, it was Keating’s personal experience that inspired her to create the company eight months ago. While she was very satisfied in her career accomplishments and deeply loyal to the company, Keating was beginning to question her future as she considered her shifting goals.

She kept asking herself what she wanted to do with years left ahead, wondering if other women of her age were facing the same challenges regarding how to skillfully navigate through a meaningful ‘second act.’

Keating began by reading and conducting extensive research on the topic. She asked questions and listened thoughtfully to the responses. The results were fascinating and the women’s stories were empowering.

What she discovered through her efforts was that women who have faith in themselves and who trust their own competencies can change direction and forge new paths for themselves – even in middle age.

As her circumstances evolved over the next few months, Keating found new meaning in helping other women take advantage of exciting opportunities. Convinced there was an unmet need in the business community, she set about to take action – connecting mid-life women with others in similar situations. She urged them to connect, share stories, and talk about how to adjust in today’s modern workplace.

She helped them realize that together they could form a powerful community – drastically changing the narrative for women preparing to re-enter the workplace, take a different direction in the workplace, or even to leave the workplace and explore new options for themselves.

In developing The Fifty Factor, she has been able to shape a powerful curriculum that addresses the critical issues facing women seeking new mid-life paths. From resume writing to technology tutoring to a depth of industry analyses, the workshops are filled with helpful hints and practical skills for all women.

Keating also realized that to succeed mid-life women would need to connect, not just in a safe and familiar environment with each other, but also with employers in the business community.

Drawing on her own extensive network in the B2B market and her personal relationships, she has been able to make important introductions that connect the women to local corporate leaders. Leveraging relationships with attorneys, financial planners, CPAs, bankers and other influencers, Keating has been able to develop an impressive list of coaches and mentors who will help women who are ready to catapult into a new world.

With the launch of her proprietary program, “The Pledge,” Keating seeks to leverage a wide range of tools and professionals, educating mid-life women and potential employers about the practical needs of this demographic – and how to best address those needs with accuracy and consistency.

Keating utilizes a variety of effective marketing strategies to amplify her efforts and draw attention to this much underserved – and almost invisible – segment. Along with nurturing her corporate network, she uses her website and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics to gain exposure and encourage mid-life women and business leaders to come together and learn how to add value through The Fifty Factor.
