For CBRE exec, recent deal wasn’t about celebrity client, but his community organization

In an email to ROI-NJ, CBRE Vice President Dan McGovern insisted that the recent sale of a Cherry Hill property was simply a feel-good deal that helped a community organization find a new location.

The property at 1800 Route 70 E., Cherry Hill, bought by Thy Kingdom Crumb.

But the transaction garnered notice around South Jersey recently because of one of the parties involved: Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz, whose foundation backs the organization, Thy Kingdom Crumb.

But McGovern said Wentz’s role in the transaction shouldn’t be the main story.

“As a broker, you just want to respect (a celebrity party’s) time and treat them like you would any other client,” he told ROI-NJ.

McGovern represented Thy Kingdom Crumb, a free food truck service, in the deal that saw it acquire a new headquarters and storage facility, a 4,546-square-foot building at 1800 Route 70 E.

And that big step for the community initiative is what makes the deal special, McGovern said.

“This was not just another real estate deal,” he said in a prepared statement. “I was honored to represent Thy Kingdom Crumb in finding a new location in Cherry Hill to help expand their incredible mission. This is a great location and will allow them to better serve all community members in southern New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia.”

Wentz’s AO1 Foundation launched the food truck program last summer, offering free, quality food to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status.

The quarterback, along with his brother, Zach Wentz, and husband-and-wife pastors Danielle and Kyle Horner of the Connect Church were personally involved in the deal, McGovern said.

“I didn’t know what to expect, but Mr. Wentz is a humble and selfless individual, so (the deal) was very easy and a pleasure,” McGovern told ROI-NJ.

The seller of the property was the Bannett Group Ltd., which was represented by Adam Rose of Rose Commercial Real Estate. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
