The Governor’s Office announced Tuesday that it has updated the list of states from which New Jersey is requiring travelers to quarantine for 14 days.
The newest list adds Rhode Island, while removing the District of Columbia and Delaware. That makes the total number of states and territories 35, including: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
“As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to climb around the country, we must remain vigilant in our efforts to slow the spread of transmission,” Gov. Phil Murphy said in a prepared statement. “Our state’s restart and recovery process is dependent upon the commitment and collective effort of every New Jerseyan and visitor to our state.”
New Jersey’s travel advisory, which is recommended but not mandatory, applies to anyone coming to the Garden State from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents, or a 10% or higher test positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average.
Those coming back from these locations should self-quarantine at home or in their hotel or temporary lodging, leaving only for medical treatment or to buy food or other essential items.
