Spirit Halloween on track to open 1,400 stores

Spirit Halloween announced on Wednesday it doesn’t plan on cancelling the holiday this year. Instead, it has spent months figuring out how to safety open more than 1,400 locations throughout the United States.

Stores will begin opening this month, the Egg Harbor Township-based speciality Halloween retailer announced on Wednesday, with heightened health and safety protocols.

“We are passionate about Halloween and are fully committed to returning with a full fleet of stores because our guests share our passion,” Steven Silverstein, CEO, Spirit Halloween, said. “Halloween restores hopefulness and provides an outlet for escape. Yes, the world has changed, but there are so many ways to participate and enjoy Halloween. We personally have seen an outpouring of enthusiasm and positive support for our determination to fully open our stores, and we agree, we all need Halloween now more than ever.”

To ensure the safety of all guests and associates, Spirit Halloween said it teamed up with Lighthouse Facility Solutions, which has created a disinfection and cleaning standard for retail stores.

In store safety measures will include:

  • All guests/associates must wear face coverings;
  • Social distancing markers;
  • Hand sanitizer stations at every entrance;
  • Plastic shields at all registers;
  • More cleaning of high-touch areas with single-use wipes and hospital-grade disinfectant;
  • Employee screenings, training on hand hygiene and disinfectant protocols;
  • Capacity limits.

“Strict standards and protocols are already in place,” Silverstein said. “However, we will remain agile and alter policies as needed based on CDC guidelines as well as state and local directives. We all need Halloween this year, and we will continue to be the premier destination for all things Halloween offering interactive one-stop shopping for everything, including exclusive costumes, décor, animatronics, party goods, and accessories.”
