A breakdown of how the state distributed $150M to higher ed

The state distributed $150 million in CARES Act money to public and private four-year and two-year colleges and universities last week. All schools were able to receive money, though public institutions received far more aid than privates.

The money is to help the state’s public and private colleges and universities offset costs incurred as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Two notes:

  1. Princeton University did not accept an appropriation, requesting that any money it was intended to receive go to institutions in greater need;
  2. Money given to Rutgers-New Brunswick can be used to support New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station.
