Marcus Samuelsson opens 2nd N.J. restaurant: Marcus at NoHu Rooftop, atop Weehawken hotel

Famed Chef Marcus Samuelsson has expanded his presence in New Jersey, opening Marcus at NoHu Rooftop, a new rooftop bar and restaurant at the EnVue, Autograph Collection hotel in Weehawken, developer Roseland Residential Trust announced Wednesday.

Roseland, a unit of Jersey City-based Mack-Cali Realty Corp., said the new eatery is located on the 15,000-square-foot roof deck of the EnVue, located in the Port Imperial section of the township’s waterfront.

Samuelsson, who rose to fame at restaurants like Red Rooster in Harlem, opened Marcus B&P in Newark in late 2017.

“Roseland’s placemaking success in Port Imperial is mirrored not only in the design of our thoughtfully imagined properties, but also in its attraction of celebrity chefs such as Marcus Samuelsson,” MaryAnne Gilmartin, Mack-Cali’s chair and interim CEO, said in a prepared statement. “Our Port Imperial offerings provide more space, state-of-the-art amenity packages, incredible views of both the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline, and, now, signature culinary experiences.”

Marcus at NoHu, formally located at 550 Avenue at Port Imperial, will offer views of the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline, as well as ample space for social distancing, Roseland said. The restaurant will be a showpiece for the $3 billion, 200-acre neighborhood development rising around the NY Waterway ferry terminal.

The menu will feature seasonally inspired dishes, as well as a hand-crafted selection of alcoholic beverages.

“The people in and around the Port Imperial community are craving new and exciting things to safely enjoy with their loved ones,” Matthes Metz, EnVue’s general manager, said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to team up with the powerhouse Chef Marcus Samuelsson to bring our community an amazing new dining offering during this difficult time period.”

NoHu is open daily for dining, drinks and weekend brunch.

Roseland is currently developing two luxury residential projects at Port Imperial, slated to open early in 2021: RiverHouse 9, a 313-unit building in Weehawken, and the Capstone, a 360-unit building in West New York.
