147 N.J. companies make the Inc. 5000 — including 18 in the Top 1,000

SwagUp in Piscataway (at No. 23) is state’s highest-ranked on list of fastest-growing private companies

SwagUp, a Piscataway-based company that says it has automated the creation, production and distribution of promotional branding products (swag-bag stuff) to some of the top companies in the country, has had a pretty good run the past three years: Business has been up 12,919%.

That’s right, 12,919%.

For that reason, the 4-year-old company was ranked No. 23 on the Inc. 5000 — the annual ranking of the country’s fastest-growing private companies, which was released Tuesday.

SwagUp was one of 147 companies in New Jersey to make the list, but the only one in the Top 150.

New Jersey had seven companies in the Top 250; 10 companies in the Top 500; and 18 in the Top 1,000. (See all 18 at the bottom of the storysee the entire list here.)

SwagUp was founded in 2017 by Michael Martocci, a Jerseyan who graduated from St. John Vianney in Holmdel. It quickly has become a go-to source for many of the top companies in the country, including Walmart, Google and Facebook.

According to the company’s LinkedIn site, the company aims to eliminate the friction from the swag buying and distribution process.

“SwagUp is an API-first platform to create, automate and distribute high-quality, branded swag, across all teams and use cases,” the company said. “We are disrupting the swag industry by streamlining the end-to-end supply chain into one platform and making it available through powerful APIs and Interfaces.”

In case you’re wondering, Human Bees, a company described as supplying quality talent for temporary workforce needs at a moment’s notice, was No. 1.

The company, founded in 2012 in Lathrop, California, had a three-year growth of 48,345%.
