Cornerstone at Branchburg offers age, income-restricted apartments in Somerset

Cornerstone at Branchburg, a new, premium 55-plus age- and income-restricted apartment community, is nearing completion as active leasing continues. Walters, the property’s developer, said Wednesday that the finishing touches on the second building at 1000 Cornerstone Drive are being installed and bring the community on target for an April delivery; the sustainably designed community offers a total of 150 rental homes.

“Walters is proud to build high-quality apartments attuned to the specific needs of residents and the host community,” Joe Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for Walters, said. “Amid continued demand for age-restricted housing in the regional marketplace, Cornerstone at Branchburg already is popular among active seniors and empty-nesters.

Designed to attain LEED and Energy Star certifications, Cornerstone at Branchburg is comprised of two three-story buildings, situated on 11.7 acres in Somerset County. The first building, offering 75 units, is now 40% occupied. Preleasing is now underway for the second building. Apartments include one- and two-bedroom layouts, ranging in size from 700 to 900 square feet. Every residence features a full-size washer and dryer, fully equipped kitchen and window blinds in every room.

Cornerstone at Branchburg boasts a range of high-end amenities such as a state-of-the-art fitness center, computer workstations, pool table and outdoor areas with gas grills. Walters also provides support services and programs that create a maintenance-free, easy lifestyle and healthy living experience for residents.

Rents at Cornerstone at Branchburg are income-restricted and available to those who earn 60% or less of the area’s median income. Rates are based on the renter’s gross annual income, according to the rent/income requirements chart.
