Invest Newark names Emily Manz chief business development officer and director of marketing

Emily Manz has been named chief business development officer and director of marketing for Invest Newark, the city of Newark’s economic development agency.

In a Wednesday announcement, Manz, who has a decade of economic development experience, was named to help lead the organization in supporting the growth of Newark’s businesses and communicating Newark’s unique strengths and advantages.

Since joining Invest Newark in September 2022, Manz has increased collaboration with Newark entities, including the Newark Alliance and the Audible Global Center for Urban Development. Her recent accomplishments include the successful revamp of the city’s Restaurant Week, implementing retail reactivation strategies and identifying new funding channels to support local businesses.

“Emily’s contribution to our organization is invaluable,” Marcus Randolph, CEO and president of Invest Newark said. “We look forward to continuing to witness the innovative perspective, and commitment to community that she brings to our organization’s work.”

Manz previously served as the executive director of Preservation New Jersey, a senior consultant at the lead generation firm OCO Global and an associate at Brick City Development Corp. A Newark resident for over a decade, Manz has deep connections to civic organizations, serving over the years on the boards of Gallery Aferro, FP Youth Outcry’s HUBB, Downtown New Jersey and Congregation Ahavas Sholom. In 2012, Manz co-founded the company Have You Met Newark Tours, cementing her commitment to innovation and community development.

“It’s been incredible to serve Invest Newark and work with entrepreneurs every day who are making an impact on their neighborhoods and our city. I look forward to continuing to work with our team and our partners like the city of Newark and Greater Newark Enterprises Corp. to support Newark’s business owners and families and share our city’s great stories” Manz said.
