Real estate industry legend Brody joining Otteau Group

Highly regarded real estate industry veteran Jon Brody has joined the Otteau Group as a senior managing director, the firm announced Tuesday.

The founder and former president of Appraisal Consultants Corp., from 1983-2023, Brody has personally written and testified on a multitude of narrative reports on real property valuation, markets and studies, on a wide range of topics, both for private clients and municipalities. He has testified in more than 100 cases in the Superior Court of New Jersey, many of which were high-profile cases resulting in landmark decisions.

In addition to litigation and testifying, Brody also has lectured on real estate matters.

Brody, with his vast background in real estate consulting and appraisals, will continue to serve his clients as part of the group.

Managing Partner Jeffrey Otteau said Brody will be a big asset to the firm.

“We are excited to have someone like Jon join our firm,” he said. “He is one of the best litigation appraisers and will drive the growth of our litigation division.”

Brody holds the prestigious MAI and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute, as well as the CRE designation from the Counselors of Real Estate. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Metro New Jersey Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and served as past president of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers North Jersey Chapter and past president of Chapter No. 1 of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers.

In addition, Brody was a certified instructor for the Appraisal Institute for 20-plus years, specializing in teaching Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, a course focusing on the ethical and technical obligations of an appraiser.
