Allendale Senior Living welcomes new executive director

Allendale Senior Living on Thursday announced it named Daniel Silva its new executive director.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Silva was a respiratory therapist for 22 years. He started his career in the neonatal ICU and gradually shifted to working with adults, becoming director of respiratory and then assistant administrator in a skilled nursing facility.

“Over time, I realized that I wanted to be more proactive in affecting change and advocating for the betterment of the residents and the community,” Silva, who went on to earn his administrator license four years ago, said.

Prior to assuming his current position, Silva served as executive director in two assisted living facilities in New Jersey, one of which also offered skilled nursing care.

“One of the reasons I’ve had success in this role is that I’ve gone into it with the intention of supporting staff efforts to manifest change by minimizing roadblocks and helping to accelerate outcomes,” he said. “At Allendale, this effort includes hiring additional staff and decreasing overtime so team members can focus on the quality of care and resident satisfaction.”

Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports Allendale Senior Living, is working closely with Silva and the community’s leadership team. “We are excited to welcome Dan to his role as executive director of this vibrant community,” Alan Eserner, vice president of operations for Marquis said. “He has the experience and leadership skills to guide the staff of caregivers and health professionals in providing a warm, welcoming and active environment where residents are inspired live life to its fullest.”

Silva noted that the community is putting the finishing touches on a multi-million-dollar renovation designed to take its amenities and services to a new level – one that reflects the evolving preferences of today’s seniors. Newly completed features include a bistro, beauty salon/barbershop and a fully functional cinema with surround sound. A second-floor entertainment space includes lounges and a bar that is open for happy hour.

Located at 85 Harreton Road in Allendale, the assisted living community was among the first of its kind in North Jersey and today has the distinction of being one of the only continuum-of-care campuses in the region.
