Cultural icon Ice-T and entrepreneur Charis Burrett have opened The Medicine Woman, a cannabis dispensary at 660 Tonnelle Ave., marking the brand’s first East Coast expansion.
Strategically located along Route 1 & 9, the 10,000-square-foot facility includes 3,000- square feet of retail space, executive offices, and plans for on-site cannabis consumption and manufacturing. The dispensary will employ 15 local hires and partner with Hudson County Community College to provide industry training and job placement.
Founded in 2019 as a California-based nonprofit, The Medicine Woman focuses on high-quality cannabis products and social responsibility. The company supports the Last Prisoner Project, advocating for individuals incarcerated for nonviolent cannabis offenses.
“This isn’t just about selling cannabis—it’s about creating jobs, fostering economic growth, and correcting the wrongs of the past,” Ice-T said.
A grand opening celebration is scheduled for April 19-20, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live entertainment, local vendors, and celebrity guests.
