PSE&G says its energy efficiency programs delivered about $720M in annual utility bill savings

PSE&G says New Jersey customers are saving money and energy through its energy efficiency programs.

PSE&G’s Clean Energy Future-Energy Efficiency report says its programs delivered savings for customers while reducing overall energy usage and supporting the state’s goals.

The utility said that through March 2025, nearly 465,000 customers participated in PSE&G’s energy efficiency initiatives, collectively saving more than $720 million annually on their utility bills.

PSE&G said the results reflect efforts aimed at helping customers reduce both their energy use and costs — from home energy assessments to rebates on energy-efficient appliances, HVAC systems, and products available through the PSE&G Marketplace. Since the start of the program, customers have received about $740 million in rebates, delivered as either instant discounts at the point of purchase or post-purchase rebates. The utility said these programs helped offset the cost of energy-saving upgrades.

The report comes as New Jersey utility users grapple with soaring electricity costs this summer.

The state is trying to address one of the main drivers of this year’s electric supply increase – a lack of forecasted electric supply. The demand for electricity, spurred by factors such as data centers coming online, is forecasted to continue to grow, and supply is struggling to keep up with demand.

“Affordability and energy efficiency go hand-in-hand, and our programs are designed to make it easier for customers to reduce their energy use and manage their monthly bills,” said Lauren Thomas, vice president Clean Energy Solutions-Customer Solutions at PSE&G. “As customers continue to take advantage of our energy efficiency programs, they’re seeing the benefits — lower energy costs, greater comfort, and more affordable ways to save energy at home.”
