Corcoran Sawyer Smith buys Liberty Realty creating firm with 500 agents

Corcoran Sawyer Smith, an affiliate of Corcoran Group LLC, announced Dec. 9 the acquisition of Liberty Realty, uniting two of Hudson County’s powerhouse real estate firms, creating a brokerage of 500 agents.

The deal combines Liberty Realty’s three decades of market dominance with Corcoran’s globally recognized brand and cutting-edge resources.

“Liberty Realty has been central to Hudson County real estate for three decades, and we are honored to welcome this exceptional organization into the Corcoran Sawyer Smith family,” said Sawyer Smith, principal and founder of Corcoran Sawyer Smith.

“Liberty Realty’s agents are among the most knowledgeable and dedicated professionals in the region, and their commitment to excellence mirrors our own values perfectly.”

Since its founding in 1995, Liberty Realty has grown to 250 sales associates and has been independently owned and operated brokerage. The firm has built its reputation on local market expertise, with many of its agents living in the areas they serve, providing clients with neighborhood insights.

“Partnering with Corcoran Sawyer Smith represents an exciting new chapter that will allow us to provide our clients and agents with even greater resources while preserving the family-oriented culture and personalized service that have always defined Liberty Realty,” said Joseph Covello, Liberty’s co-founder. “This is about growth without compromise, amplifying our strengths with the power of a world-class brand.”

Liberty Realty’s existing agents will benefit from the globally recognized Corcoran brand, synonymous with luxury real estate for more than 50 years – generating added consumer recognition, media exposure, and access to a network of specialized agents worldwide. Corcoran Sawyer Smith will continue to operate out of multiple offices in Hoboken and Jersey City.

The acquisition builds on Corcoran Sawyer Smith’s track record of strategic growth, following its 2024 acquisition of Weidel Real Estate, which expanded the firm’s markets served and physical footprint into Central New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Now with more than 500 real estate professionals across the region’s most desirable areas, Corcoran Sawyer Smith will hold even greater market reach.

“Hudson County continues to be one of the most dynamic real estate markets in the New York metropolitan area, and this acquisition reinforces Corcoran’s commitment to this vital region,” said Stephanie Anton, president of Corcoran’s Affiliate Network.

“The combination of Liberty Realty’s market standing and experienced agents with Corcoran Sawyer Smith’s premium positioning and innovative marketing strategies creates an unbeatable value proposition for clients throughout the region.”

Corcoran Sawyer Smith is a franchisee of Corcoran Group, serving New Jersey and Pennsylvania with 250-plus real estate professionals. Founded in 2012 as Sawyer Smith Residential and becoming a Corcoran affiliate in 2022, the firm operates 10 offices in Jersey City, Hoboken, Princeton, Flemington, Hamilton Square, Pennington and Lambertville, and New Hope and Doylestown in Pennsylvania.
