Murphy to deliver keynote at ReNew Jersey Business Summit

Summit, March 14-15 in Atlantic City, figures to be biggest business networking event of year

Gov. Phil Murphy will deliver the keynote remarks on the opening afternoon of the ReNew Jersey Business Summit & Expo, March 14-15, at Harrah’s Atlantic City, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce announced.

Chamber officials said the in-person statewide business summit will feature a two-day general session of discussions about how to boost the state’s economy. Business and government leaders will aim to examine how to leverage the advantages of operating a business in New Jersey — and explore what key actions are necessary to make the state’s business climate more competitive and attractive, Chamber officials said.

The discussions will cover, but not be limited to, taxes and incentives, infrastructure, burgeoning industries, inflation, diversity and the regulatory environment.

This is the second year of the summit, which was held as a substitute for chamber’s annual Walk to Washington train ride, which has been put on hold due to concerns surrounding the pandemic.

The summit figures to be the biggest business networking event of the year, but chamber CEO Tom Bracken said the purpose of the summit is to be more than just talk.

“The goal is to bring together subject experts from business, politics and nonprofits to discuss the advantages of doing business in New Jersey and the challenges stifling New Jersey’s economy, and propose the actions needed to shift into a strong economic recovery,” he said. “We’re looking for solutions.”

The solutions will be presented to the state’s legislative leaders, who will participate on a panel discussion on Day 2 of the summit.

The summit will feature a pair of networking receptions: an evening cocktail reception March 14 and a morning breakfast reception — featuring a panel of business reporters — March 15. It will include a business expo March 14 for New Jersey businesses to showcase their products and services.

“We expect this to be the single largest business event in the state this year on a scale comparable to our Walk to Washington,” Bracken said. “There is a strong desire among businesspeople in New Jersey to improve the state’s business climate, and to network. This event will provide a prime opportunity for both.”

When the chamber held a summit in Atlantic City last year, it drew more than 650 attendees.

Attendees this year will include a wide variety of business executives from large and small companies, state and local government leaders, representatives from trade groups, labor, academia, nonprofits and the media.
