South American cuisine comes to Broad Street in Downtown Newark

Salsa Latin Bistro and Lounge opened last week with a lively ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located in Downtown Newark at 860 Broad St. beneath the Courtyard Marriott, it is a short walk from Prudential Center, Newark City Hall and Newark Penn Station.

Salsa Latin Bistro’s menu features cuisines from across Latin America, including Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Peru and many more. A specialty dish is Salamo de Coco, pan seared salmon in malibu sauce served with rice & sauteed spinach from Brazil, Ropa Vieja from Cuba, Arroz Chaufa from Peru, and Bandeja Pais from Colombia.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting event was attended by Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Council President LaMonica McIver and Marcus Randolph, CEO of Invest Newark.

“We are truly thankful and humbled by the awesome support we had from clients, colleagues, friends and family at the Salsa ribbon cutting. We are so happy to become a part of this incredibly supportive Newark community. And we are excited for people to join us on a gastronomic journey throughout Latin America right here at Salsa,” Dwain Lazarus, Raymond Sanchez and Jamir Archer, owners of Salsa Latin Bistro and Lounge, said.

“Salsa Latin Bistro will bring a wide range of high-quality Latino cuisine to our downtown and continue to energize the community,” Baraka stated. “It is within walking distance of some of Newark’s world-class attractions, which will create an economic ecosystem that benefits both. We are happy to welcome this new restaurant and its ownership team to our city.”

“Invest Newark is pleased to celebrate another business opening their doors in the city of Newark. The entrepreneurial journey is not easy. Tonight is about recognizing this accomplishment and helping these business owners start strong amongst friends and community,” Randolph said.
