Why Amy Mansue is No. 1

There are many reasons to support selection of Inspira Health CEO for top spot of ROI Influencers: Women in Business list

The hardest aspect of detailing all the reasons why Amy Mansue is being honored is deciding which of them should go first.

Consider just her time as CEO at Inspira Health, which started in the summer of 2020 — or during the most treacherous time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mansue quickly jumped into the role, helping to stabilize Inspira and the community it serves through a multitude of actions.

This sense of community for the Inspira Health network and South Jersey hasn’t waned.

Consider: In less than three years, Mansue has made numerous moves that have increased both the quality of care the system gives while expanding access to it, including:

  • Expanding Inspira LIFE: The system’s Living Independently for Elders program is now in all of Gloucester and Salem counties. The new LIFE center in Williamstown will serve as a hub for the comprehensive health and social services provided to seniors so they can remain in their homes.
  • Revitalizing the Woodbury campus: The system just held a topping-off ceremony for a new building that will house an emergency department and inpatient behavioral health program. Inspira has been executing its multiphased, multiyear construction and redevelopment project on its Woodbury campus since last fall. Construction of the new building is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
  • Adding elective PCI: After the New Jersey Department of Health made it possible for community hospitals to provide elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention procedures, Inspira quickly moved on a program in which its experienced interventional cardiology teams are performing the often life-saving procedure.
  • Increasing the residency program: Inspira currently is training 234 medical residents and fellows in 14 nationally accredited programs, making it one of the largest residency programs in the state. Last July, Inspira welcomed its first three psychiatry residents in a nod toward an increasing emphasis on behavioral health.

All of this comes on the heels of a three-decade career in health care (and government) that virtually no one in the state can match.

Former No. 1s

A look at those who previously were honored with the top spot in the ROI Influencers: Women in Business list:

2022: Kristin Peck, CEO, Zoetis

2021: Judith Persichilli, commissioner of health, state of N.J.

Mansue came to Inspira after serving as a top executive at RWJBarnabas Health and with Gov. Phil Murphy, serving as the Central Region coordinator of the COVID-19 response. This was after an incredible career as the CEO of Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside for a dozen years and time as the deputy chief of staff for former Gov. Jim McGreevey.

Along the way, she not only was active with the New Jersey Hospital Association and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, but she served as board chair for both.

Want a bit of private-sector experience? She’s got that, too, having served as an executive at a cable company early in her career.

But, for all of her accomplishments in the fields and sections of her resume, Mansue is most often lauded for her character, integrity and leadership. She is a role model of the first level. For all the reasons in more, she is the No. 1 selection on the 2023 ROI Influencers: Women in Business list.
