Treasury names Johnson new head of private credit in Division of Investment

The New Jersey Department of the Treasury‘s Division of Investment announced the hiring of Brad Johnson as head of private credit.

As head of private credit, Johnson will lead the effort to invest the targeted allocation of the state’s pension fund within the asset class, which is currently 8% of total assets.

Johnson, who started March 27, brings many years of experience to the position.

Before joining the Division of Investment, he worked with First Republic Bank, focusing on alternative investments. Prior to that, Johnson worked with PivotalPath, Man Investments and Oppenheimer Funds.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in business from Rollins College and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.

Shoaib Khan, chief investment officer and director of the Division of Investment, welcomed Johnson to the team.

“His depth of knowledge and experience in alternative investments makes him an outstanding addition to our team,” he said.
