Stevens Institute of Technology President Nariman Farvardin recently received the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources’ 2023 Chief Executive HR Champion Award.
Award officials said the honor is intended to recognize that what makes an institution great are its people. The award honors a president or chancellor of a higher education institution or system who has demonstrated significant support for the institution’s human resources function.
The award was sponsored by Segal, a North American HR firm, which has an office in Princeton. CUPA-HR will make an $8,000 contribution to the Stevens program of Farvardin’s choice.
Under Farvardin’s leadership, Stevens has been recognized with accolades from multiple organizations surrounding the institutional transformation seen over his tenure. Farvardin’s investment in professional development initiatives, including Workday HCM for all HR staff; his commitment to building a culture that empowers excellence, teamwork and innovation; his support and appreciation of a diverse and flexible workforce; and his accessible and approachable leadership through events such as “Conversation with the President” and monthly informal lunches with new faculty, have played a key role in Stevens’ success.
Elisabeth McGrath, vice president for university relations and chief of staff at Stevens, said the honor is well-deserved.
“President Farvardin is not only our HR champion but our people champion,” she said. “His continued commitment and support to the Division of Human Resources to elevate the employee experience and create a sense of community makes him an ideal candidate for the 2023 CUPA-HR Chief Executive HR Champion Award.”
